WHEN AND WHERE IS THE ECHO WOMEN'S MINI MARATHON?
The 2023 Echo Women's Mini Marathon takes place at on Sunday, September 17 2023 at 12noon and begins on Kennedy Quay, Cork.
WHAT IS THE DISTANCE?
The Echo Women's Mini Marathon 2023 distance is 5k which you can run, jog or walk.
WHEN DO ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE 2023 EVENT?
Entries for Echo Women's Mini Marathon 2023 opened on Thursday July 27th
HOW MUCH IS IT TO ENTER?
Entry fee is €20 per person. Postage for ROI and NI race numbers is included in the entry fee. For overseas locations, an additional postal charge may apply. (All booking fees will are included in race entry).
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN MY ENTRY FEE?
Once registered, you will be sent your personalised race number in the post, a few days before the event. You will receive your race medal, after the finish line, in Kennedy Park. You will also receive periodic email updates about the event.

CAN I DO THIS WITH A GROUP?
Yes! We are happy for you to take part with your friends and family. If you want to be in the same wave, please ensure you select the same wave when you enter. Remember, you cannot move up waves, but you will be allowed to move down to join your friends.
HOW DO I ENTER A GROUP?
You can enter groups of people using the Online Entry System. The booking form will allow you to book up to 10 people in one go. One person can use their contact details when booking for friends and family. However, we strongly recommend that everyone provides their own mobile number and email address. This ensures we can communicate with each participant individually and allows them to access their individual details in the manage my booking section if required. For groups of more than 20 you may submit in batches of 10 online.
DO I HAVE TO BE PART OF A TEAM/GROUP AND OR CHARITY?
Not at all. You are welcome to take part on your own and it is your own personal choice whether or not you wish to fundraise for any cause.
DO I HAVE TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY OR A CAUSE?
There is no obligation to raise money for charity or a cause. Many participants use this event to fundraise for their favourite charity, but it is not necessary to fundraise to participate in the event.
HOW DO I RAISE MONEY?
We have partnered with the charity fundraising platform iDonate again this year. You can set up your fundraising account with them at https://www.idonate.ie/ If your charity isn't listed on the iDonate dropdown list on the entry page, please contact iDonate to have them added to the list alternatively please contact your chosen charity directly if they are not listed and let them know you would like to fundraise for them.
CAN I DO THE 5K OVER A NUMBER OF DAYS?
No - you have registered to participate in the live In-Person event. The Echo Women's Mini Marathon takes place on Sunday, September 17 2023 at 12 noon.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO ENTER THE EVENT?
The minimum age to enter the event is 16 years of age on Race date, September 17th, however children aged 8 and above may be enter along with an adult entrant, who will accompany them on the day
WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS?
There are no qualification requirements to take part in the 5km distance. We do recommend that you consult with your GP in advance of undertaking the challenge to ensure you are fit enough to take part and this event poses no risk to your health.
DO I NEED TO VERIFY MY TIME?
Your personalised race number includes a timing chip. This will record the time you cross the start line and then the time you cross the finish line, giving an overall chip time. You will also get a gun time - the time taken from the race start until you pass the finish line.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY RACE NUMBER BY POST?
We will start posting out race numbers approx. 1 week before the event. It will be posted to the address you provided at entry. Once your race number has been assigned to you and posted we will email you to confirm that it is on its way to you. Please allow 5 working days from receipt of our email for your number to arrive. The cut-off date for getting your race number posted out is Friday, September 8 2023. Entries after this time will have to be collected by 11am on Sunday, September 17 2023. Please ensure you provide us with your full address and correct Eircode when booking.
CAN MY FRIEND GET HER RACE NUMBER POSTED TO MY ADDRESS?
Yes of course! Just make sure you put c/o Your name and address, and please ensure that your correct Eircode is used.
Are buggies, pushchairs, prams, scooters, motorised vehicles, motorised devices, baby carriers / slings, dogs or pets of any kind permitted in the race?
For Health & Safety and Insurance reasons, buggies, pushchairs, prams, scooters, motorised vehicles, motorised devices, baby slings, baby carriers are permitted during the In-Person event. Dogs/pets are not permitted with the exception of registered assistance dogs. [Note: Following consultation with our insurers, we are currently reviewing the situation regarding buggies]
We do have a wheelchair category. Wheelchair participants will set off before the main field. This section is restricted to wheelchair users and their assistant(s).
ARE MEN PERMITTED TO ENTER THIS EVENT?
This is The Echo Women's Mini Marathon, consequently we ask men to support female participants during this event.
CAN I GET A REFUND OR TRANSFER MY NUMBER?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds and are unable to transfer entries/numbers.
What happens if I forget to bring my number on the day?
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET TO BRING MY NUMBER ON THE DAY?
There will be a Help desk open on the morning of the race. If you have forgotten or lost your number, a new but non-personalised number will be available from the Help desk. A €5 charge is payable for the replacement number.
WHAT IS CORK ATHLETICS?
Cork Athletics (County Board), the organiser of this race, is the governing body for athletics in Cork, and is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland, the National Governing Body for the sport. Cork Athletics is a designated Sports Body, Registered GS Number 3014 - Cork County Board (Athletics Association of Ireland) - under Section 235 Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997.
The Echo Women's Mini Marathons is a major fundraiser for Cork Athletics, helping fund Juvenile and adult Track & Field, Road and Cross-Country Championships, coaching courses, equipment & safety grants, organise Cork teams of all categories, and a myriad of other events & activities, along with the Board's facilities, particularly it's grounds at Riverstick.
